Traffic of Motor Vehicles of Over 12 Tons Will Be Limited on Holidays, on Fridays and Sundays – between 1 June and 15 September

VOD_praznichni_dni_24.jpgTemporary organization of the traffic of heavy goods motor vehicles of over 12 tons along certain sections of the national road network will be introduced on holidays and during the summer season – from 1 June to 15 September this year. The objective is to enhance the safety of the movement with the increased traffic that is traditionally observed on official holidays and days off, as well as to increase the capacity of the road infrastructure.


 

The order on the movement of heavy goods motor vehicles was prepared by an interdepartmental working group, which experts from Road Infrastructure Agency, General Directorate „National Police“ in the Ministry of Interior, Road Transport Executive Agency and representatives of the non-governmental sector participate in.

The restriction of movement of the motor vehicles of over 12 t, trailers and semi-trailers, agricultural and farming equipment, tractors and specialized construction machinery included, is as follows:

  • For the time period from 1 June to 15 September this year for the days Fridays from 17:00 pmto 20:00 pm, and Sundaysfrom 14:00 pmto 20:00 pm;
  • All the year round on official holidays the movement on the last working day prior to the holiday will be limitedfrom 16:00 pmto 20:00 pm, and on the last day off of the holiday from 14:00 pmto 20:00 pm.

For the forthcoming four days off around the National Holiday 3 March, on 27 February(Friday), the traffic will be limited between 16 pmand 20 pm, and on 3 March(Tuesday)from 14 pmto 20 pm.

The temporary organization of the traffic will apply for the following sections of the national road network:

  • The motorways, with the exception of the section Harmanli – Border Control Checkpoint Kapitan Andreevo of Maritsa Motorway;
  • Road I-1 village of Rebarkovo – Botevgrad, where the traffic will be redirected along road II-16 Rebarkovo – Svoge - Sofia;
  • Road I-1 stage connection of Lot 1 of Struma Motorway at road junction Dupnitsa North – Border Control Checkpoint Kulata;
  • Road I-4;
  • Road I-5 Ruse – Veliko Tarnovo;
  • Road I-8 Plovdiv – Harmanli;
  • Road I-9 Durankulak – Varna – Burgas;
  • Road II-18 Sofia Ring Road, South Arc section from km 26+100 to km 62+007;
  • Road II-19 Simitli – Gotse Delchev;
  • Road II-86 Plovdiv – Smolyan;
  • Road II-99 Burgas – Tsarevo.

The temporary traffic organization refers to all the periods during which there is more than one day off or a holiday.

The limit is not valid for motor vehicles transporting perishable foodstuffs and cargos at a temperature regime, live animals and dangerous goods (ADR).

The Road Infrastructure Agency recommends the drivers of heavy goods motor vehicles and of cars to drive at a speed conformed to the meteorological conditions and to follow the instructions of the Traffic Police.

A Situational Center works in the Agency all the year round with a 24-hour regime, which collects and generalizes the data about the condition of the national roads.
