The Publications about Landslip of a Section of Struma Motorway Near the Town of Sandanski Are Course Lies and Manipulations

The Chairman of the Management Board of Road Infrastructure Agency, Eng. Lazar Lazarov, conducted with the media representatives a joint inspection along the entire 15-kilometer route-bed of Lot 4 of Struma Motorway – from Sandanski to Border Control Checkpoint Kulata. The inspection proved that the information about a landslip of a motorway section near Sandanski that was stated in the media and the social networks is definitely not true.

The published photographs are not from the direct route of the motorway, which on 31 July was opened for travelling, though still under construction, so as to easy the traffic within the region of Petrich. The photographs are from road approaches to Petrich which are about a kilometer away from the route-bed of Struma Motorway. They are with temporary pavement and are not completed. The publications of absolutely false and speculative assertions made in the public space are rough manipulations that mislead the society and do not correspond to the truth.

“Last week, when we issued the traffic so as to facilitate it during the active holiday season, we warned about unfinished works which are away from the main part of the route. You can see that work along the route continues and I am asking for understanding and patience”, Eng. Lazarov said before the reporters. The road connections Petrich – Kulata and Kulata – Petrich, which are still under construction at the intersection of Road III-198 Petrich – Zlatarevo with Lot 4 of Struma Motorway, were inspected in the presence of the media. In conformity with the Contract, the works on the road connections and on Lot 4 must to be completed by 11 September.
