Public Procurement Procedures are Launched for Modernization of 31.5 km of Road I-8 between BCP Kalotina and Slivnitsa

en_square_cef_logo_0.pngThe Road Infrastructure Agency launched two open procedures for selection of contractor for modernization of 31,5 km of road I-8 between BCP Kalotina and Slivnitsa. The indicative value of the projects is BGN 258.6 million., VAT excluded.

 

 


 

One of the tender procedures is for “Modernization of road І-8 Kalotina – Sofia Ring Road, from km 1+000 to km 15+500, and stage connection“. This is the section after BCP Kalotina to the road junction at Dragoman with a total length of 14.5 km.

The indicative value of the project is BGN 141 667 715, VAT excluded. Parts of the funds are supplied by the Connecting Europe Facility.

Widening of the existing road is foreseen and in some sections the geometric elements will be improved to achieve a design speed of 100 km/h. The road will be with two lanes in each direction and an emergency stop lane. At km 12 + 520 an entrance-exit from the first-class road to the Dragoman Intermodal Terminal will be constructed. There will be 10 large facilities, two of which at the road junctions Kalotina and Dragoman.

The term for implementation of the project is 852 calendar days.

Bidders can submit their offers till 17:30 pm on 13th of November this year.

The other tender procedure is for “Elaboration of detailed design and implementation of construction of a project “Modernization of road І-8 Kalotina – road junction Hrabarsko, from km 15+500 to km 32+447.20, and stage connections“. This is the section between Dragoman and Slivnitsa, with a length of 16.98 km. The indicative value is BGN 117 million., VAT excluded. The funding is provided by the national budget.

Widening of the existing road to a 27m gauge is foreseen, making the two-lane first-class road four-lane. In some sections the geometric elements will be improved to achieve a design speed of 110 km/h

The term for implementation of the project is 910 calendar days.

Bidders can submit their offers till 17,30 pm on 16th of November this year.

Road І-8 represents a part of the core TEN-T network. The alignment belongs to the direction London – Budapest – Belgrade – Sofia – Plovdiv – Istanbul – Calcutta, which is the shortest distance linking Western Europe with the Middle East. The section BCP Kalotina – Sofia provides for the link to Trans-European Orient/East Mediterranean Corridor.

The modernization of the road section will improve the trans-border link between Bulgaria and Serbia and the completeness of the motorway network in west – east direction om Bulgarian territory. The completion of the section will reduce the travel time and provide for comfort and safe driving conditions.
