The Offers for Selection of Contractor of the Mezdra - Botevgrad Road will be Submited in December
The Road Infrastructure Agency started a tender procedure for selection of contractor for construction of 33 km of road I-1 between Mezdra and Botevgrad. The project will be funded by the state budget. The total indicative cost is close to 302 million BGN, VAT excluded. For the first time, a new payment scheme will be implemented with regard to the performance of public contracts, which envisages that the contractor will receive the total amount under the contract only after Act 16 for project completion has been signed and permission for use of the newly built section has been issued. The goal is to ensure that future contractors work as efficiently as possible and complete the project within a short period and with high quality.
The construction of the Vidin – Botevgrad road will start with one of the most difficult sections – Mezdra – Botevgrad. The section is divided in two lots so that work can be done onsite simultaneously to be completed within a short period of time. The road will have two lanes in each direction with a gauge of 20 m. The alignment will follow the existing road and will extend to new terrain in the sections that bypass the villages of Lyuti Dol, Tipchenitsa, Novachene and Skravena. A number of facilities will be built and renovated – above the Mezdra – Sofia railroad, bridges over the Iskar, Malata Reka, Kalnitsa, Bebresh, and Rudarska rivers as well as a road junction near the village of Novachene. The intersections of national and municipal roads will be at roundabouts Mezdra, Darmantsi, Rebarkovo, Lyuti Dol, Skravena, and Botevgrad. The construction of agricultural overhead crossings, recreation areas, etc. is planned. Two tunnel passages with lengths of 490 and 340 m, respectively, will be constructed at the bypass of the village of Lyuti Dol.
The indicative cost of the public procurement for update of the technical design and construction of lot 1 – road I-1 from km 174+800 to km 194+122 is 123,000,000 BGN, VAT excluded, but this is not the limit. The period for project completion is 1096 days, of which 180 days for planning and design and 916 days for construction. The bidders may submit offers by 5.30 pm on 03.12.2018.
For lot 2 – road I-1 from km 161+367 to km 174+800, the indicative cost is 17,800,000 BGN, VAT excluded but this is not the limit. The deadline for project completion is 1096 days, of which 180 for planning and design and 916 days for construction. Offers can be submitted by 5.30 pm on 10.12.2018.
The Vidin – Botevgrad direction /167 km/ is a priority project under the investment program of the Road Infrastructure Agency and the Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works because the overall homogenization and modernization of the route from the Danube Bridge 2 will secure a fast and comfortable connection between the Hemus, Trakiya, and Struma motorways.
With project completion, the transit traffic will be taken out of populated areas and will improve traffic safety and will limit the harmful effects of noise and environmental pollution due to the intensive heavy traffic.
