To increase traffic safety in the summer, movement of trucks over 12 t on motorways in peak hours will be stopped

heavy.jpgTo increase traffic safety in the summer, on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays in the most intense traffic hours, movement on motorways of trucks over 12 t will be stopped. The aim is on weekends during the active tourist season, when many car drivers are on their way, to improve road safety and throughput of the road infrastructure.


 


The restrictions will be in force until September 15th this year, according to the the provisions of a joint order of RIA, DG “National Police” with the Ministry of Interior and EA “Road Transport Administration“.

The restriction on Trakia motorway for motor vehicles over 12 t will be as follows:

  • on Friday from 18 pm to 20 pm, in direction Sofia – Plovdiv;
  • on Sunday from 16 pm to 20 pm, in direction Burgas – Sofia.

On Struma motorway:

  • on Saturday from 10 am to 14 pm, in direction road junction Daskalovo – BCP Kulata.

On Marisa motorway

  • on Sunday from 16 pm to 20 pm, in direction Svilengrad – Trakia motorway.

Pursuant to order of June 16th this year, due to the ongoing repair works on Hemus Motorway, the traffic in both directions in the section between Sofia and Yablanitsa (from km 0 + 000 to km 78 + 554) will be banned as follows:

  • on Friday from 17 pm to 20 pm;
  • on Sunday from 14 pm to 20 pm.

By September 15th, every Friday from 17 pm to 20 pm and every Sunday from 14 pm to 20 pm, the movement of heavy goods vehicles over 12 t will be banned on the following sections of the road network as well:

  • road I-1 village of Rebarkovo – Botevgrad, the traffic will be rerouted on road II-16 Rebarkovo – Svoge – Sofia;
  • road I-1 – stage connection of Lot 2 of Struma Motorway at Blagoevgrad – BCP Kulata;
  • road I-5 Ruse – Veliko Tarnovo;
  • road I-9 Varna – Burgas;
  • road II-99 Burgas – Tsarevo.

The restriction does not apply to vehicles carrying perishable foodstuffs and loads requiring special temperature mode, live animals and dangerous goods (ADR).
