The Construction Works Of Maritca Motorway Are Being Implemented
The Ministers of Regional Development Desislava Terzieva and of the Transport, Information Technologies and Communications Danail Papazov together with the Chairman of the Management Board of the Road Infrastructure Agency еng. Stefan Chaykov checked the construction works of Maritca motorway. The “Construction of Maritca motorway Lot 1 and Lot 2” Project is cо-financed by the Cohesion Fund of the European Union and the national budget through Operational Program Transport 2007-2013. A total of 65,62 km are being constructed by funds of the Operational Program.
The contractors of the site assured Minister Terzieva and Minister Papazov that the construction of the section Dimitrovgrad – Harmanli – Lot 2 of Maritca motorway will be completed by the end of November. The 34,2 km alignment runs through the territory of the municipalities of Dimitrovgrad, Simeonovgrad, Haskovo and Harmanli. The physical implementation of the Project is about 72%. Dimitrovgrad road junction which will be the biggest one on the territory of South Bulgaria is under construction on this alignment. The expectations are that the structure will be ready in September, the contractors assured. With its construction the intersection of the motorway with international road Е-85 (І-5) Dimitrovgrad – Haskovo will be implemented at two levels, without any conflict. At present work is going on Topolovgrad and Simeonovgrad road junctions, overpasses, underpasses, agricultural underpasses and overpasses and so on.
The laying of the first asphalt layer started in March. According to the design a total of about 623 000 tons of asphalt mixtures will be laid on the route.
The implementation of Lot 1, Orizovo – Dimitrovgrad section, with a length of 31,4 km, is about 42%. The route passes through the territory of 4 municipalities: Bratya Daskalovi, Parvomay, Chirpan and Dimitrovgrad. The construction of 22 big structures is foreseen. At present rescue archeological investigations of the 6 sites registered along the route are implemented. It is expected that they will be finalized in August this year. The term for completion of Lot 1 is November 2014.
The Contractor of Lot 1 - Orizovo – Dimitrovgrad, from km 5+000 to km 36+400, /a total of 31,4 km/ is COOPERATIVA MURATORI & CEMENTISTI, C.M.C. DI RAVENNA. The value of the Contract for construction and assembly works is 159 755 613,60 BGN inclusive of VAT. The Construction Supervision is exercised by DZZD Т7/SINK. Their Contract is in the amount of 678 600 BGN inclusive of VAT.
The Contractor of Lot 2 - Dimitrovgrad – Harmanli, from km 36+400 to km 70+620, /a total of 34,22 km/ is ASSOCIATION MARITZA HIGHWAY. The value of the Contract for construction and assembly works is 146 564 400,00 BGN inclusive of VAT. The construction supervision is exercised by DZZD RUTEX - ЕТЕ. Their Contract is in the amount of 799 200 BGN inclusive of VAT.
The Author Supervision of both sections is exercised by Patproject EOOD.
Maritca Motorway is a part of the Pan-European Transport Corridor No IV and of Trans-European North – South Motorway. It will connect Trakia motorway at road junction Orizovo with Kapitan Andreevo at the Bulgarian – Turkish border. Maritca is the main route of the traffic in the direction from Plovdiv to the BCCP Kapitan Andreevo. The motorway will serve also the road traffic to Greece at junction Novo Selo.
