Construction and Assembly Works under Phase 2 of the Western Arc of Sofia Ring Road Implemented over 50%
Prime Minister Boyko Borisov, the Minister of Regional Development and Public Works Lilyana Pavlova and the Chairman of the Management Board of Road Infrastructure Agency еng. Lazar Lazarov inspected the execution of Section 2 of the Western Arc of Sofia Ring Road.
It was noticed during the inspection that the construction and assembly works of the section from km 0+780 to km 6+309, with total length 5,528 km, were already executed 50 %.
The route is located after the bridge at the Kakach River and up to the road junction with the North Speed Tangent and Lot 3 of Sofia Ring Road – Kalotina.
The Western Arc of Sofia Ring Road comes naturally as an extension of Lyulin motorway and its construction will ensure the sustainability of the Project realized with European funding. When constructed, the site will provide the connection from and to Serbia with the motorway ring in Bulgaria which is under construction and will guarantee faultless distribution of local and transit traffic. Thus, the North-South transit flow will be homogenized.
On 20 October 2015 the Council of Ministers gave a mandate to the Road Infrastructure Agency to conclude contracts for the implementation of activities under section 2 of the Project for construction of the Western Arc of Sofia Ring Road. A few days ago the European Commission approved implementation of the Project under European funding.
Contractor of the Project for the construction of the second stage of the Western Arc of Sofia Ring Road is DZZD (Company under the Obligations and Contracts Act) “EUROPEAN ROADS”, with the following participants: “GP Group “ LTD, “Avtomagistrali – Black Sea” JSC, “Patstroyengineering” JSC. The value of the Contract is BGN 101 999 866,66 inclusive of VAT. The term for the execution of the construction is 10 months. The construction supervision at the value of BGN 719 040 inclusive of VAT is exercised by “Sofia West 2013” Association, with the following participants: “Patconsult 2000“ EOOD (LTD), “Rutex” Ltd, “Transconsult BG” Ltd and“IRD Engineering S.r.l.”.
