The Construction of 37 km More of Struma Motorway in the “Dupnitca – Blagoevgrad” Started
The construction of 37 km more of Struma motorway has been started. The symbolic first sod has been turned today of Lot 2, “Dupnitca – Blagoevgrad” section from km 322+000 to km 359+483.52. The project is co-financed by the EU Cohesion Fund and the national budget under Operational Programme on Transport 2007-2013. On 23 July has been opened for traffic the section “Dolna Dikanya – road junction Dupnitca-North” – from km 305+220 to km 319+200 and two road links „Sofia – Dupnitca“ and „Dupnitca – Sofia“, being part of Lot 1 of Struma motorway.
The symbolic turn of the first sod was attended by the Minister of Regional Development Desislava Terzieva, the Deputy Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Petar Kirov, the Chairman of the MB (Management Board) of RIA (Road Infrastructure Agency) Lazar Lazarov, the Member of MB of RIA Iliana Zaharieva, representatives of the local authorities, etc.
Contractor of the construction and design contract of Lot 2 is “STRUMA – LOT 2” CONSORTIUM, composed by “Impreza” JSC, Italy, GBS “Infrastructurno stroitelstvo” JSC, Bulgaria and “Patststroy – 92” JSC, Bulgaria. The contract value is 358 722 000.00 BGN, VAT included. The construction supervision will be exercised by DZZD „OBEDINENIE „STRUMA - PP“, composed by “Patinvestengineering” JSC and “Patproject” Ltd., Sofia. The supervision contract value is 2 949 843.00 BGN, VAT included.
The Dupnitca – Blagoevgrad section is about 37 km long. The implementation period of the detailed design and construction is 22 months.
Lot 2 is located on the territory of the regions of Kyustendil and Blagoevgrad. The section starts from km 322+000 – located about 1 km in the northwest of the village of Blatino, and ends at about 400 m after Blagoevgrad road junction – the crossing with road ІІІ-106. The alignment starts with a bypass of the town of Dupnitca, in the west of the existing road Е-79, crosses the Jerman River in the south of Dupnitca and runs along the strip between the river and the existing railway. At the site it is envisaged construction of 4 road junctions: Dupnitca – South (with road II-62), Boboshevo (with road III-104), Kocherinovo and Blagoevgrad (with road III-106). The project includes also construction of two tunnels, each one of them 500 m long. The tunnels are on the territory of the region of Kyustendil. Noise barriers will be installed in the sections passing close to the villages of Blatino and Usoyka, Levski quarter of the town of Kocherinovo, and the village of Belo Pole, farm overpasses and underpasses will be constructed, etc. The total length of Struma motorway from Daskalovo to the Greek border is 150 km. It belongs to Pan-European Transport Corridor ІV and the Trans-European North South Motorway. The construction of totally 68,5 km is financed under Operational Programme on Transport 2007-2013, that includes Lot 1 “Dolna Dikanya – Dupnitca” (16,78 km), Lot 2 “Dupnitca – Blagoevgrad” (about 37 km) and Lot 4 “Sandanski – Kulata” (14,7km).
