5 Projects of the Road Infrastructure Agency Received Prizes at “INFRASTRUCTURE BULGARIA AWARDS” 2016
Five projects of the Road Infrastructure Agency were honored at the first award giving ceremony within the “INFRASTRUCTURE BULGARIA AWARDS“ 2016 initiative. The City Media Group is the founder of the competition for projects contributing to the building of Bulgaria’s infrastructure, under the auspices of three Ministries – of Regional Development and Public Works, of Transport, Information Technology and Communications and of Environment and Water, of branch and academic organizations within the sector.
The objective is to award prizes to the best infrastructure projects implemented in the period 2013 – 2015. Awards cover eight categories and the winners were determined by a thirty-member competent jury chaired by eng. Pavel Dikovski, Chair of the Management Board of Roads Bulgarian Branch Chamber.
The jury determined the “Design and Construction of Lot 2 Dupnitsa – Blagoevgrad of Struma Motorway” the winner in the “Transport Road Infrastructure” category. “Section 1 of the Western Arc of Sofia Ring Road” and “Lot 2 Dimitrovgrad – Harmanli of Maritsa Motorway” won special prizes. The prize of the Road Infrastructure Agency was awarded to eng. Iliana Zaharieva, member of the Management Board of the Agency.
The first prize in the “Intelligent Transport Systems and Geographic Information Systems” category was awarded to the Project of the Road Infrastructure Agency related to the building up of a system for automated collection and analysis of data about road traffic along motorways and first-class roads. A special prize was awarded for the successful implementation of the Project under the Administrative Capacity Operational Programme – “Provision of GIS-based Electronic Administrative Services upon Issuance of Road Infrastructure Agency Permits for the Public and the Business and Creation of GIS Registers for Revenue Activities”. On behalf of the Road Infrastructure Agency, the prize was received by eng. Doncho Atanasov, member of the Management Board.
“INFRASTRUCTURE BULGARIA AWARDS” will review and give publicity to the most successful projects in the four main directions of infrastructure having the utmost significance to the development and competitiveness of Bulgarian economy and society:
- Transport road infrastructure;
- Transport railway infrastructure;
- Transport port infrastructure;
- Subway transport infrastructure;
- ITS – Intelligent transport systems;
- GIS – Geographic information systems in infrastructure;
- Environmental water infrastructure;
- Environmental infrastructure – waste disposal sites and waste;
- Environmental industrial infrastructure;
- Urban environment.
The sites that will take part in the initiative will be subject to public professional evaluation and publicity, and good implementation practices and achievements of leading companies and professionals will be promoted.
