Starting Tomorrow, about 5-km Section of Kalotina - Slivnitsa Road will be Closed for Traffic. The Restriction is Due to the Construction of the Future Europe Motorway

Starting tomorrow – June 26, about 5-kilometer section of I-8 Kalotina – Slivnitsa road closes for traffic and it will be redirected along the old Kalotina – Sofia road. The restriction for vehicles in the range from km 15 + 600 to km 20 + 940 is due to the construction of a section of the future Europe Motorway, which will connect Sofia with BCP Kalotina. It is planned that until 20 November this year the traffic will pass along the old road to Kalotina – municipal road SFO3214.

Primе Minister Boyko Borisov inspected the completed section of Lot 3.1 between Blagoevgrad and the section prior to the future Zheleznitsa Tunnel on Struma Motorway. The purpose is facilitation of traffic and increased safety for travelling to and from Greece during the forthcoming three days off for the celebrations of the Day of Bulgarian Education and Culture and Slavonic Literature - May 24 - and prior to the beginning of the active summer season.

Prime Minister Boyko Borissov and the Chairman of the Management Board of Road Infrastructure Agency Georgi Terziyski inspected the commencement of construction works for modernisation of a 17-km section of first-class I-8 road Dragoman - Slivnitsa. A second roadway will be built in the section and the old one will be reconstructed, thus giving the section the characteristics of a motorway. It is part of the Europe Motorway which will connect Sofia with Kalotina Border Checkpoint.

Phased Construction of Hemus Motorway from Boaza to Ruse - Veliko Tarnovo Road Begins

The staged construction of Hemus Motorway started in the section between the Boaza road junction and the I-5 Ruse - Veliko Tarnovo road with a length of 134.14 km. At the end of last year, the government allocated BGN 1.12 billion (VAT excluded) from the budget. The contractor of this project is the state-owned company Avtomagistrali EAD. The beginning of the construction works was attended by Prime Minister Boyko Borisov, the Minister of Regional Development and Public Works Petya Avramova, the Deputy Minister of Regional Development and Public Works Nikolay Nankov, the Chairman of the Road Infrastructure Agency Georgi Terziyski, the Executive Director of Avtomagistrali EAD Stoyan Belichev, members of parliament, mayors from the region and others.
