The Construction of the Bypass Road of Vratsa Started

Vraca_1.jpgThe construction of “Bypass of Vratsa - Road I-1 (E79) from km 0+000 to km 6+816.60” started. The project is co-financed by the Cohesion Fund of the European Union and the national budget under Operational Programme “Transport” 2007-2013. The first sod at the site was turned at a formal ceremony attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Regional Development and Public Works Ekaterina Zaharieva, the Chairman of the Management Board of the Road Infrastructure Agency  Lazar Lazarov and others.


The total length of the section is 6.817 km. The project includes construction of one road junction, two four-arm crossroads and one roundabout and others. The deadline for execution under the contract is 360 days.
The Contractor is Association “Bypass Vratsa” which involves “Trace Group Hold” PLC, Sofia and “PSI” JSC, Stara Zagora. The construction contract is for BGN 14,600,989.45, VAT included. Construction supervision will be exercised by “Traffic Holding” Ltd. Their contract is for BGN 1,125,600, VAT included.
The site is on the route of Pan-European Transport Corridor № IV. As a section of road E-79 it provides transport links between three European countries - Romania, Bulgaria and Greece. The commissioning of the second bridge over the Danube at Vidin - Calafat will increase the transit flows in northwestern Bulgaria and will be used more intensively as the shortest route between Western Europe, Central Europe and the Aegean Sea, and will also connect Europe to Asia.
